In a place where many would agree that there are only two seasons鈥攚inter and not winter鈥攈aving a familiarity with the sundry outdoor activities that can be enjoyed in the winter is a great benefit. In the interest of getting youth in the community better acquainted with outdoor winter recreation, 海角情鈥檚 Outdoor Adventure Center is offering a weeklong camp for youths during the week of February vacation.

鈥淚t鈥檚 during February break when kids are home from school,鈥� OAC Director Scott Fraser said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e really trying to get kids outside, having fun, and learning winter recreation skills.鈥�

The camp, which is open for ages 8-12 (grades 3-6), will run from Tuesday through Friday, February 21-24^th, weather permitting. Sessions will begin each day at 9:00 a.m. and run until 3:00 p.m. Every day will include a new recreational activity, including snowshoeing and skiing on trails, building winter shelters, geocaching in the snow, learning about winter ecology, and indoor rock climbing. Children will be guided by the trained staff of the OAC.

This is the first time that 海角情 has offered a youth camp during February break, although it recently hosted a similar camp during the holiday break. That camp was so successful that kids had to be turned away, prompting the development of this camp and the planning of future camps.
