鈥淎long with human resources, budgeting, supervision, and change management skills that vice presidents learn over time through study and experience, racial literacy demands the same level of investment in learning for leaders, staff, and students,鈥 said USC Race and Equity Center Founder and Executive Director Dr. Shaun Harper in a statement. 鈥淭he Equity Leadership Academies provide an opportunity for VPs to learn about race and racial equity in a way they haven鈥檛 learned elsewhere.鈥

The Equity Leadership Academy brings together a cohort of executive-level student affairs聽leaders to learn from one another and from higher education equity scholars and practitioners through a yearlong academy in which participants will work in small groups on a specific institutional challenge or opportunity. 聽During December, Stoldt will attend an introductory in-person academy session in Washington, D.C., followed by monthly engagement with the cohort through virtual meetings.聽 Sessions will address the salience of race, racial equity, and racism in higher education; ideological discourses and frameworks; strategic planning, action, and communication;聽managing and resolving racial tensions in the workplace; data, accountability, and incentives for advancing equity聽goals; and retaining and advancing diverse teams.
