海角情 Welcomes New Trio Director Rob Schadt

November 4, 2022

海角情 would like to introduce Rob Schadt, the new Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS).

TRIO SSS is an esteemed program that serves students who are working to achieve their academic and lifetime goals. TRIO SSS provides services like tutoring, academic advising transfer services, career counseling, financial literacy education, accessibility services, cultural events, college fairs, seminars, workshops, and more.

Schadt has over seven years of experience in college student services, and fifteen years of supporting and advocating for disadvantaged and under-resourced student populations.

He earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in Psychology in his home state, at the University of Northern Iowa, and continued his education at Ashford University, where he earned his master鈥檚 degree in Organizational Management.

His career began when he accepted a position working for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound in Seattle, Washington where he served as a case manager and program manager, specializing in school-based programs.

For the past six years, Schadt has spent his time at the Eastern Iowa Community College along the Mississippi River, where he served as an academic advisor, career services coordinator, and a disabilities resources specialist at the Clinton campus. He also served as the Associate Dean of Students at the Scott campus, where he coordinated academic advising and testing center teams. Prior to his time at Eastern Iowa, Schadt supported online learners in advising and student records at Ashford University.

Although he鈥檚 lived in four other states including Iowa, California, Washington, and Illinois, Maine has always been a place Schadt has wanted to experience. Being an outdoor enthusiast and someone who loves to explore, he jumped when he came across this opportunity.

鈥淲hen I visited for my interview, it confirmed it was a place I would love to be.  The natural environment reminded me of the forests and waters of the Pacific Northwest, but the towns and pace of life reminded me of the rural Midwest,鈥 mentioned Schadt.

Schadt joins us here in Washington County with his wife Paige, their three dogs Maggie, Kevin, and Steve, and their cat named Puppy.

鈥淚 also was so impressed by the warm welcome by everyone at 海角情, and the campus size and close-knit feeling reminded me of the small campus I was an advisor at for five years, which I really missed. I look forward to bringing what I have learned on my journey to 海角情, and at the same time learning a lot from the people of Washington County,鈥 he said.
