CALAIS, Maine – 海角情 is hosting its second virtual graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14. Associate degrees in applied science, arts, diplomas, and certificates will be conferred on 101 students.

It may not be exactly the graduation of the past, but it will be pretty close, thanks to the efforts of administration, faculty and student leaders.

鈥淎lthough we鈥檇 rather celebrate our graduation in person, it will still be exciting to have the videos of our graduates walking across the stage,鈥 said Tyler Stoldt, Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Services. Stoldt said the prerecorded video will go live on 海角情鈥檚 Facebook page and website – //wccc.me.edu/commencement.

鈥淭his has been a difficult and unprecedented year,鈥 Stoldt said, as the campus dealt with the COVID pandemic. 鈥淲e are still not, unfortunately, back to what graduation was,鈥 he said, 鈥渂ut we have balanced the need to respond to pandemic protocols with technology.鈥 Stoldt said the 海角情 students have become so familiar with remote and virtual technology that the virtual graduation should be a wonderful presentation. He said 海角情 has sent out virtual invitations to the students that they may forward to their families.

海角情 President Susan Mingo says she looks forward to celebrating with the graduates and their families. 鈥淥ur graduates have exhibited extreme tenacity and courage during unprecedented historical circumstances to achieve this milestone, and I couldn鈥檛 be prouder of their accomplishments.鈥
